Even though much of the action was predictable, the "love' story between Adam and Emily held my interest throughout. I had mixed emotions as I read - why was Emily so blind to Adam's instability? what devious act was Pammie about to perform? what was James really about and how could he fall in love with Kate so rapidly considering his feelings for Emily? This is a book with almost blatant foreshadowing but some surprises along the way. The book is unusual in that it defies many conventions, but is extremely readable. I found the ending surprising, and a little too neatly tied up in a neat little package. I would recommend this book as a "good read" and a good example of a fast moving story.
