You can tell from reading the excerpt that there is something not quite right with Adam's relationship with his mother Pammie. Emily knows this but is ignoring the warning because she has already been taken in deeply by how easy going Adam is and her feeling for him. Pammie specifically left open the page in the photo book with Adam and his ex-girlfriend in it. She is setting the stage for whatever comes next. I am curious to read what she has planned to ruin this relationship.
