I really didn't know what to expect from this book; Rom Com Fantasy sounded intriguing but I don't think I've ever read a book in that category. I was pleasantly surprised to have devoured this book in 2 days and am already ready for the next one (when does it come out??)!

The Other Merlin gives me a strong She's the Man vibe with a medieval take. this book starts out with the classic trope of girl disguised as a guy but quickly becomes about more than that. This book was surprisingly more emotional than I was expecting. it made me laugh but also pulled at my heart strings a bit. also the twists and turns in this book were so good! I had no idea where this book was trying to lead at first and the twist ending was great without being too much of a cliffhanger.

the characters are probably the best part of this book. I loved Arthur, Merlin and Lance. They all were unique but kind hearted good people and you wanted to root for all of them throughout the book. even some of the characters i disliked at first grew on me. also there is great LQBTQA+ representation in this book and I appreciated that Merlin and Lance were both queer as 2 of the main characters.

The world building isn't much in this book so if youre looking for heavy world building and complex political intrigue this book probably isn't for you.

I found The Other Merlin to be a great book hangover cure; its cute, gripping, has loveable characters, a strong storyline with mild politics, a fast read and emotional as it is funny. I definitely recommend this book!
