This fast paced YA book is simply unsettling. It depicts loneliness in a way that is wholly unique. I’m not sure if I liked it or not, but I definitely appreciate the writing style and the interpretation of teenage issues in an alternative dreamscape. I suspect this is a book I need to chew on for awhile before I can fully rate it. A week later, I am still chewing, LOL.

Full warning though. This might not be the right book for those struggling with mental health as some themes of suicidality, mean girls, hazing, etc do pervade the story line. It does offer perspective on how seemingly routine life choices can impact others and does have a hopeful message at the end (it just takes a while to get there). We all need to treat each other with more kindness and compassion.

Thank you to BookishFirst, NetGalley, Penguin Group, and Dutton Books for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.
