I wanted to love this book so much and at first, I did! I was really intrigued by the premise and the protagonist, July. However, as we got closer and closer to the answer, I was a bit let down by the anticlimactic ending. I liked the quick pace chapters and writing style, but all that build up just to kind of fall flat at the end was slightly disappointing. I truly appreciate what the author was trying to say about mental health relating depression to waking up as the only girl in town, feeling so scared and lonely, but overall, this didn't land for me. I think I was expecting more of a sci-fi/mystery ending instead. "Unsatisfied" is a word I've seen people use to describe this book and I think it's the perfect word. I enjoyed the high school stories of these girls, a sense of togetherness and friendship that differs from the present day for July. I also loved the relationship she has with her cat (as a cat mom myself). Definitely not a bad book. It was just missing something. Still enjoyed the reading experience!
