This book was not at all what I expected but in a very good way. I read Ally Condie's Matched trilogy and was expecting similar vibes but more of a mystery thriller set in a contemporary world. This did have a mystery but it was just so different from what I've read from this author before. There was a big focus on flashbacks, so this book was half told in the present and half explained by the past. It was even weirder because she isn't the only girl in town, there's someone else around leaving hints or seeming to taunt her. It begins to get revealed who this could be through the flashbacks. I flew through this book, the chapters were short and very easy to read. I really wanted to understand what was going on here so I read it in one sitting. There are mental health themes and representation of peer pressure. This wasn't written in prose but almost feels like it was.
