At first look, I was interested to see this sample. The cover was intriguing and though I'm really selective with what YA I'll read, the premise was something I thought I'd like to read. But I don't like the voice of this at all. Is it a straight narrative? Trying to be verse? The short, choppy sentences are jarring and (sorry!) annoying to read and I couldn't even finish the excerpt.
