Wow! I couldn't imagine going to the river and coming back just to find everyone gone. The town completely silent. Sydney doesn't freak out and attempts to drive to the next town realizing she can't leave. She gets out and walks a little ways into the forest and finds her notebook worn and damaged with a warning that says get them back. I love how the author wrote the beginning of the book with short chapters with each thought and action Sydney does in separate chapters. It gives the story more of the already tense vibe. I am definitely intrigued by this story and will be on my TBR list.
