I never expected to like and enjoy this book as much as I did! And don’t get me wrong, but I normally read PURE romance.

Finn and Liv, along with some others, were lucky enough to survive one of the biggest shooting at their school, Some of them were friends before the shooting but others were “forced” to be an “us” after; they related to their pain and tried to help each other to go on, made promises to live for those who didn’t.

“They were survivors. They were the ones who got away, only to be chased for years after. By the memories. By the anger. By the fear. By the label the killers had given them. “

It’s been twelve years after that tragic day and when they reunite, the realize they haven’t lived the live they wanted and the one they promised to enjoy.

Finn and Liv have unfinished business, so went they reunite after all these years, they feel they need to put a end to that to keep going on with their life, but that will lead to “what could had happened if...”.

I loved both characters, specially Livv because she is not the perfect woman with the perfect life, she has a comfortable life but she knows she is not perfect and she accepts it without remorse.

Finn and Liv know they are playing with fire, but it’s impossible for them not to give a try for a hot summer, with no promises, the only promises were for themselves: enjoy their second chance, at being together and at being alive.

Will they keep their promises? To themselves? Will it be only for one summer? Will they live risking everything to really live at its fullness?

Love the story because beyond the romance, there is a message to take a risk and live the life you dreamed when you were a teenager full of dreams, to keep promises to other and ourselves, to make right to others... to makes us aware that THIS IS REAL and not just fiction.
