I'm normally not a huge fan of romance novels, or even contemporaries in general - especially ones that deal with tragedy or trauma. After all, I love reading to get away from reality, not delve deeper into it. So I picked this one up with a hint of nervousness and skepticism, but I ended up really enjoying it! It wasn't too heavy-handed to throw me off, and had the perfect balance of seriousness and lightheartedness. Liv and Finn were so real to me - they weren't perfect. They had flaws, and they worked around them and accepted each other despite them. It was beautiful to see a group of people coming together to support each other after tragedy struck their high school, and it reminded me that there is still some good in the world. So thank you for that belief, Roni!
