I'm normally not a huge fan of romance novels, or even contemporaries in general - especially ones that deal with tragedy or trauma. After all, I love reading to get away from reality, not delve deeper into it. So I picked this one up with a hint of nervousness and skepticism, but I ended up really enjoying it! It wasn't too heavy-handed to throw me off, and had the perfect balance of seriousness and lightheartedness. Liv and Finn were so real to me - they weren't perfect. They had flaws, and they worked around them and accepted each other despite them. It was beautiful to see a group of people coming together to support each other after tragedy struck their high school, and it reminded me that there is still some good in the world.
