I give all the swoony love to this book. It had me swinging from feelings of anticipation, bittersweetness, and adoration. The Ones Who Got Away was definitely a sweet romance, but with the backdrop of an extremely dark past event. I didn't know what to expect by the synopsis, but I like that the story never turned too dark. The mood was kept hopeful and uplifting. All of the characters, main and secondary, were amazingly well-drawn and relatable. I was all about Finn and Liv's love story, but also drawn into the brief glimpses of Liv's friendships forged by the school shooting. This was a well-rounded story and a lovely one to follow. Loren does a great job of building anticipation for the next book in this series, as well. I can't wait for another compulsively readable story by this talented author.
