The Ones Who Got Away has such an interesting premise to my favorite second-chance romance trope in that it starts / comes from such a bleak place with the school shooting that still effects our main characters so many years later. But you can't deny that there's unfinished business between Finn and Liv and I'm anxious to see how the past has effected each of them, because it's not just PTSD from that fateful shooting hanging in the air, it's the feeling of inadequacy Liv felt back then. The idea that she wasn't good enough for Finn still lingers in the present as much as it did in the past. I also love the set-up for who I'm assuming will be the other main characters in future books in the series with the other survivors of this tragedy.
