I was very surprised to start this book and find it read like a fictional version of Columbine. I was shocked and appalled to find a high school shooting as the back story for two characters who had a fling in high school. That does not make a good recipe for a romance story in my opinion. The author could have chosen a lot of tragic options if that's what she wanted for her characters but this seems too tacky.
