Cover & Title

I originally thought that this was solely, purely a romance about a former fling that's rehashed later in life... the usual verbiage of "the one who/that got away" is meant this way, yes?

Fonts

The fonts used is wide spread in Motivation and Inspirational posters across the web. It's interesting how it's used in this layout for a seemingly more depressing storyline.

Introduction & Chapter One

During a documentary interview Liv is distracted by posters or just avoidance or some symptom of P.T.S.D. Add in some lust with an ... Indirect introduction of Finn and his heroism and a direct introduction when he appears during Liv's portion of the interview. After defending her need to leave to the documentary crew, Liv's old good memories start to re-surface and we see more dimensions to both characters. It's bitter sweet in this kind of reveal.

But since "all they were to each other now were bad memories and even worse decisions," it seems that this is like some star-crossed, not-meant-to-be kind of love story.

Chapter Two

Adding yet another level of bittersweet to this story; Finn, Liv, Rachel, Taryn, Kincaid end up at the same pub. This chapter is split P.O.V.; The first half in Finn's (who's there alone) and the second half in Liv's (with the three other women). Finn's overwhelmed by Liv and her not-good-to-take-home-to-mom way of being that had him as a teen and now. Liv and her Time-Capsule-Pact friends read and revel in their teenage dreams.

We don't get to hear Kincaid's or Taryn's dreams as Liv finally sees Finn in the corner, leaving. He makes her a silent offer for a drink, and she just grabs a margarita pitcher and tells the ladies she's with that she needs to go, get some air. We don't find out if the three complain because she's already outside and Finn's approaching from behind and ...

The End of the Sneak Peak...

That's really quite a cliffhanger ending for a sneak peak. If anything should have a cliffhanger though, a sneak peak definitely should!

Take Away

It's one of the things that I don't typically read because of the cover and title is a little misleading for my liking. But upon reading the intro and first two chapters, I've realized that it's right up my alley, after all. And I really would love to read the rest of this incredible realistic more-than-just-a-romance story.
