Books about family, found or otherwise, have always been a favorite of mine. There’s just something about the strength of the bonds of family that I really love to see in books. I went into this not knowing much more about the plot than that it’s about two sisters that are pulled apart by the sea. I kind of want you to do the same thing if you get the chance and let the story really sneak up on you. There’s some science fiction, hints of dystopian settings (really well done!), and a sprinkling of thriller elements in there too. If you’re intrigued, good. Give this book a try. The ending might be a bit of a hit or miss for some but thankfully for me it was a big hit. I like books that make you think, that make you feel and then walk away and let you just do that and The Ones We’re Meant to Find really does that. This will not be my only Joan He novel, I can’t wait to look at her other works and hopefully be a patron of her future works as well.

Please note that I was sent an advance reading copy (arc) of this book, but all thoughts and the review itself are all my own honest opinion.
