The cover is gorgeous! It serves as a visual metaphor and not just a literal depiction of events that take place in the book. Kasey and Celia are each on an emotional journey- Celia wakes up on an island, isolated, missing key memories and the ability to see in color, and yet she is tethered to sanity by the thought of returning to her sister. Kasey is racked with guilt over Cee's disappearance or maybe harboring feelings of abandonment despite being physically surround by society. She is also drowning in insecurities that cannot be remedy with her own technological bandaids. I am interested to see how each sister's journey parallels the other despite them being oceans apart. I am thrilled that both sisters seem to be STEM stars, but I'm also interested to read how technology can also stunt progress despite its advances. The second element of this book touches upon the consequence of ignoring our global footprint. As sea level rise, society has lifted its cities to the skies, but Kasey warns to live sustainably is to live less.
