I did not read the summary before starting this excerpt so I kind of thought Kay was Celia's girlfriend? But I now know this is not the case! Poor Celia, trapped on an island, trying to escape with no memory of what she's escaping to, only that she wants to escape at all. I am absolutely in love with the way the story has been told so far, with the alternating points of view and the way the author just threw me into the midst of it all. I feel like I'm playing catch up, but at the perfect pace. I'm searching for all the information I can so I can figure out what the heck is going on and how this world is set up. It's the future, I can tell that, but how far in the future? Apparently far enough that there is little left in the world that isn't polluted and that people seek refuge in the digital world. I am absolutely intrigued to keep reading and am definitely adding this book to my TBR!
