This book is about nine young women who escaped a Nazi concentration camp in the waning days of the war. We have been introduced to only one of the women, Helene, so far, but I expect we will learn about the other eight and what activities they took part in to have been imprisoned later in the book. The author goes back and forth chronologically, from the beginning of the war to far beyond, which was a little jarring at first but I got used to it. I enjoyed how she wrote about Helene from a close viewpoint as her aunt as well as a hero of the war.
