The cover is interesting with photos of the women at the top. I wasn't clear on why some of their scarves (or what I am assuming are scarves) are hanging down so far. When I first saw the cover, that's what I first noticed and I thought it was hands as if they were hanging. It took me a moment to realize what it actually was. As for the book, I am hugely in favor of any work that highlights the deeds and actions of women in history. Women's contributions are overlooked and ignored far too often. And because of that, I would definitely be interested in this book. In reading the excerpt, my initial impression of the writing this is a debut book of the author. Or at least this is a genre the author has never written before because the narrative style seems a little underdeveloped. This type of writing, taking historical records, papers, recollections, etc., takes a certain style to make it engaging and I'm not sure this author has quite gotten it. But I am still interested in reading it.
