This story opens with the escape of nine women, workers for the resistance during World War II. Their leader appears to be Helene, who goes by the code name "Christine." The author then starts introducing us to Helene, her aunt. She is a leader and very remarkable woman. She sacrifices and endures much for her country. The "first impression" only allows the reader to see the escape and background information on Helene (and none of the other eight), so I am very intrigued to know their story, what they accomplished and endured for the betterment of others, and how they recovered on the other side of the war. I love to read stories about women who are brave and risk much for others.
