I recently read The Paris Secret by Natasha Lester and that was the first time I had heard of Ravensbruck Concentration Camp. The Nine by Gwen Struss immediately puts the readers into the world of the resistance and what they went through for their country and freedom. The story of their sacrifice, survival and (I am assuming) their future struggle to accept and forget is powerful and empowering. The writing style is very easy to read and moves the story forward and it makes me want to continue reading. I think it is important that we understand what happened to those who fought and died for our freedoms so that we recognize when trouble starts to happen again.
