Synopsis: Jessica is experiencing a case of mistaken identity. Somehow, her low-paying internship got swapped with the internship in the executive training program. The executive training internship was supposed to go to Elijah, the son of the CEO. When Jessica tries to switch back, he offers her a proposition. What if they stay in their switched roles? This would give Elijah freedom and Jessica the opportunity of a lifetime. No one has to find out…

Thoughts: Happy Publication Day! Special thanks to @BookishFirst for gifting me an ARC of “The Name Drop” for an honest review.

This story reads like a K-Drama! The crazy mix-up was entertaining to watch. If I was in Jessica’s position, I would have thought the same things. I liked seeing how Jessica grew in her new role. While she won’t be President, she learned how to be a leader. Elijah is quite privileged. It was good seeing him out of his comfort zone and learning how to live among regular people. Elijah and Jessica had some sweet moments together as well.

Spoilers: I wish the author had focused more on a few things. We were introduced to the hackathon concept and saw the characters working on it. However, we never saw the hackathon in action. The story also brought up serious topics such as misogyny in Korean workplaces. While we don’t get to see any changes take place, we are left with the impression that Hee-Jin will create a more inclusive company as she goes off on her own. I wish the book had been longer, so we could have dived more into these aspects of the story.

This book is great for those who like outlandish K-Dramas or a fun summer romance. There is a bit of cursing in the book, with the f-word being used frequently. I would recommend this for 18+.
