This is a solid YA romance which takes the Prince and the Pauper tale and reworks it for the modern day. The beginning of the book really worked for me, and I was invested in seeing how Elijah and Jessica lived into each others' worlds. However, the pacing slowed for me midway through the book and I found myself less invested in binge-reading the story. I think some of the fun of the Prince and Pauper themes had worn off by that point and I was waiting for another conflict to appear to propel me through the story (one did, eventually!) I liked the way the story ended--the conflict had actual consequences, but still there was a way (though not maybe the predicted way) for the characters to find happiness. I did appreciate finally understanding why Jessica and her dad saw the company so differently at the end of the story. Definitely recommend for YA romance readers 7th grade and up!
