"The Myth Of Perpetual Summer" should be on everyone's to-read list this year! I was blown away by the depth of emotion it brought out and all of the characters. Tallulah James tells the story of her childhood, wrought with dark family secrets and her escape from the family plantation in Mississippi to sunny California. On a family emergency, she returns home to find out her siblings have all spread out and no one around but an old family friend and their grandmother. Tallulah is pulled in many different directions and takes charge of all going on around her with her siblings and old menaces who threaten her entire family.

The book does go from one year and back ten and forth again but it's to give the reader a chance to see what's happened in the past from Tallulah's point of view.

I'd give this book 10 stars if I could, it is probably one of the best I've read in years. I love how it ended, as well, there hopefully will be a part two.
