This was a pretty interesting book. First of all I loved the main character's name... Tallulah James! It seemed to make her a more interesting character from the start. It was interesting to see the drama of traditional "southern families" in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s come alive and mix with coming of age story that was Tallulah's (or Lulie, as she was called) childhood. The book did a great job of describing life at this time and seeming to make the setting come alive. I liked that we got to see what was going on with the family life through so many decades. Tallulah had a very dysfunctional family life, but was the rock for her siblings. I would have liked a little more closure at the end, but it was still an enjoyable read.
