I have not seen anyone talk about this book. I was given the opportunity to read a sneak peak of this, and I knew I wanted to read it. It peeked my interest from the prologue, and had me engaged from the beginning.
This started off with a mystery, but then quickly went into the back story around the characters family. You learn about their childhood and start to understand how they get to where they are in the present. I found myself getting lost in the story and wanting to know more about their childhood and as adults.
This does take place in the past, so be aware that you read about issues in the South back in the 50/60/70. This also does have some triggers for animal abuse.
Overall, this really surprised me and I loved it.
