I love how the chapters do between different times, so you are piecing the book together as you go along. Tallulah seems a little like I am and it makes me want to get to know her more and learn her back story. I already want to know what happens to the characters and I only read the first two chapters.
As for the cover, it is a little dreary colored, but it does show the pillars to what could be a plantation like what Tallulah grew up on.
