I love, love, love a good period piece southern story, filled with deep and interesting characters. Think, The Secret Life of Bees or The Persian Pickle Club or anything by Ann Hite. Reading this first impression excerpt makes me think of those stories. As I read it I instantly felt transported to the time period and the voice of the main character immediately felt at home in my mind, like a comfortable old friend telling me a story. I cannot wait to read this one!
