I think the cover suits the theme of the book particularly the blossoms as they could be a euphemism for the young girl as she grows up.
My impression is that the young woman hasn't had an easy life and has tried her best to take care of those she loves. I also think that when she sets out on a journey, it will change her in a number of different ways and hopefully life will be a bit kinder to her.
