This book was beautifully written. It is a mix between the handmaids tale and the Grace year. With the girls being forced to reform and trap themselves into the precontrived duties that women are deemed to fill. They are forced to set aside their hopes and aspirations, with only motherhood and servitude in their future. In this story the girls are also forced to ignore the parts of themselves that feel for other girls. Being told that they are wrong and evil for how they feel. That relations between girls and girls and boys and boys are what caused the end of the world. I think the author does a good job at showing that there is nothing wrong with loving someone of the same sex. And that it is the society that is wrong for demonizing these people and trying to indoctrinate them into changing. By burying their history and lying to children about why they are in a school. This was a really good read that I would highly recommend.
