This first look didn't reel me in. The writing was okay, but it just didn't grab my attention. I am a fan of YA fantasy, but something about this one just wasn't doing it for me. I can see this book appealing to younger YA readers, and maybe further in it gets more engaging, but I wouldn't read more to find out what happens next. The cover is eerie and striking.
