A YA book that many adults will also want to read. An interesting mix of A Handmaidens Tale, Hunger games, The Stepford Wives, books like 1984 and a Brave New World and the rhetoric of fundamentalist groups and anti-woman, anti-lgbt+, anti-anyone who doesn’t fit the WASP male preferred lifestyle. This first read brought up so many thoughts and questions it took me at least 3 times longer to read than it should have. Each page contained something I needed to think about. This is not to say just reading without analyzing isn’t going to provide a great reading experience for the reader.
Everyone would love to live in an utopia but this story shows many of the ways that changes intended to create an utopia often have unintended very negative impacts. Can’t wait to read the rest.
