The perfect book for a historical fiction buff! I am so excited to see a book that centers around the journey to the New World! I was a bit nervous at first - there was a good note from the author but then a glossary - scary. If you are worried that this will be a bit to complicated to enjoy - don't! The writing is perfect! The characters are relatable and yet they seem to have some secrets and I need to know what they are!
I love the fact that some of these families really did make that incredible journey! Our main characters are fictional but what they experience is based on historical events. The story starts right away with the decision to leave their home and try to find a better life halfway around the world. By the next chapter you are onboard the ship - what a great way to start the adventure!
