I'm someone that enjoys historical fiction. I don't read a huge amount of historical fiction from this time period simply because I don't usually encounter it. That's part of the reason I tried for a copy of this one. It sounded pretty interesting and I hoped it would be worth the read.
While I don't regret reading it, I did find myself disliking some aspects of it. There's quite a bit of jumping around. Some of the dialogue is rather iffy. There are certain characters that definitely need more fleshing out. I didn't much care for the main character for quite a bit of the actual story. I wished I liked the overall story more than I actually do. There was just not enough there to keep it engaging for me.
