Nicely done so far. The weaving of the factual, historical parts with the fictional characters was well done, fairly seamless. Not only do you learn the actual events, but it was nice to have the emotional reactions of the characters put in there as well, bringing the characters to life. Mary Elizabeth's anguish, doubt, reluctance to leave her place of comfort, concerns about survival in the New World. And the healthy number of different characters, Mary Elizabeth and her friend, Mary Elizabeth's father. William Lytton, and his backstory were nice as well. All the backstories served to well flesh out the main characters and make you care about them and their life and their reasons for going to the New World.
