I cannot wait to get my hands on the entire book! The First Impression gives the reader a glimpse of the Separatist's journey from England to the New World. Mary Elizabeth's father (her mother being deceased), as well as her best friend and her family, have been chosen to take the journey by ship to a better life in America. Mary Elizabeth fears leaving all that she has known, and especially her mother's grave, but her friend, Dorothy's, excitement is infectious. They go underway by ship, but during their journey, the ship springs a leak, and Mary Elizabeth finds herself bailing water and praying that God will save her. Although the First Impression doesn't get much into another character's story, I am intrigued to see what will happen with character, William, who has received a job meant for another, putting a target on his back. This looks like the ultimate historical fiction novel and I cannot wait to read more!
