This was such a fun book! The setting was terrific. I think middle schoolers will be highly engaged by the school for Marvellers and yet there are so many meaningful messages being shared that the book has more depth than just being a story about magic and fantasy. The main character is terrific, as she has many admirable traits and shows a lot of spirit in the face of obstacles. It was cool to learn about her personality and abilities, and I enjoyed getting to know the other characters as well. There was enough mystery to keep younger readers engrossed but not so much as to be overwhelming. I also loved the sky/start theme, and actually learned some things! The writing was accessible but more than that, it was very descriptive and made the storyline visually accessible as well. I can't wait for more from this series, I think it will be very popular.
