The cover turned me off at first, it looks like it would be a child's book by the cover. When I started to read I was pleasantly surprised that it was not as childish as I thought. It reminded me in a way of Harry Potter but in a completely different world with different powers. I like how the beginning provided you with descriptions of the family tree and powers so at any point when I got confused of who was related or who did what, I was able to see what it was and then have a better idea. I liked the writing style with the invitations and news articles thrown into it. The little break made the sample read very fast. I really enjoyed imagining the floating world and the ride that the family went in. I think the description of the world and characters were very well done. I found myself wishing the sample was longer because I got into the book so much by the end.
