Overall, I really enjoyed this book! It was a lot of fun!

I loved the magical school setting in this book. The best way to describe it is as a more diverse and inclusive Hogwarts. In fact, I would say this entire book is a more diverse and inclusive Harry Potter, which is so important for kids these days! With that said, this book was its own story, with unique details that set it apart from HP, so it definitely wasn't a copy. In fact, I think it was more enjoyable!

I thought Ella was a wonderful protagonist to follow. I love how strong she was as a character, even in the face of prejudice. I also was intrigued by her magic, and wanted to learn more about that. The Conjure magic reminded me a bit of the Root magic in Legendborn, which I didn't mind at all.

I think the one thing that could have been a bit better was the pacing of the story overall. But I would still recommend middle grade readers to read this story!
