The Marvellers follows Ella on her journey to magic school. As the first conjuror to officially attend the Arcanum Training Institute, she is met with challenges and prejudice that she must overcome, in addition to learning all about this new world that she's always wanted to be a part of.
The story is fast-paced, with excellent writing. The world building is phenomenal. It really was like Harry Potter, but better. I loved the magic system, and I TRULY appreciated that the adults in this novel were caring and loving. What a shock to read about concerned, supportive, loving parents and adult influences. The mixed media elements are also wonderful. It makes the reader feel like they are a part of this magical world too.
Ella learns about herself, her family, her heritage, and the world of Marvellers, all while making incredible friends, standing up to fellow student and adult bullies alike, and taking classes unlike anything she's ever experienced before. Her story is incredible.
I already have recommended this one to middle grade readers in my life, and I can say that it absolutely works for adults too. It was a FANTASTIC time. It was rich, and heartfelt, and it packed a punch.
