I throughly enjoyed this book! Adore magical school settings in fantasy novels. Couldn’t put this down. I was sucked in immediately. This story is well written (loved the descriptions and worldbuilding). The pacing was a little slow. Loved the main character Ella Durand and how she handled the obstacles thrown at her. Like the dynamics between her and the other characters (does especially with Brigit and Jason). Liked the plot twists. I found the villain interesting. I’m happy to see more diversity in fantasy novels. It mentioned serious topics in an age appropriate way. I love Dhonielle Clayton’s writing style. Would love to read more from this series and author. I recommend to any Harry Potter fan. The cover is eye catching (love the color scheme).
