Black Girl Magic
This was absolutely perfect for lovers of Harry Potter and Amari and the Night Brothers. It captured black girl magic to the fullest. I adored the world that was built in this book. The clear divide between Conjurers and Marvellers shows such a clear picture of prejudice, but in a way that makes sense for middle grade readers. I love how diverse the characters were throughout the story because it added a different layer of complexity to the story. I enjoyed that the story was essentially told from two perspectives, but the second characters identity was kept a mystery. The artwork throughout the book was beautiful along with the cover! This book was wholesome, magical, fantastical and I believe every middle grade black girl deserves to read it! I will absolutely be getting my hands on the second book in the series as soon as I can! The real question is would you rather be a Conjurer or a Marveller?
