"The Marvellers" by Dhonielle Clayton is a well-written YA read. The combination of the characters, plot and setting keep the reader engaged from the first page to the last. I'm always looking for age-appropriate, diverse books for my classroom. "The Marvellers", is honestly one of the better novels I've come across. The main character, Ella Durand, has lead a pretty sheltered life up to this point. A magical school in the clouds has existed for Maravellers from all over the world. The Arcanum Training Institute is where these students have honed their skills. With the new school year approaching, the decision was made to include Conjurors as students. Most do not agree with this decision. Ella is the first Conjuror to be accepted. Even though she is excited to attend this school, the year has its ups and downs. Ella falls under a cloud of suspicion. With the help of her friends and increasing powers, she attempts to clear her name and defeat the evil Gia Trivelino aka The Ace of Anarchy.
