I love a magical school setting, so while Middle Grade isn’t my usual go to genre, I was interested in reading The Marvellers. It’s a fun and diverse read with fantastic world building. I loved the idea of the Arcanum and all the different marvels. I did feel like it was missing a little something to up the action or suspense - at times I found myself a little bored by the storyline and characters. There are many things that aren’t explained fully by the end, but given this is book one in a series, it’s possible those will come out in later books. Same thing in regards to character development- it felt like the characters needed to be fleshed out a bit more but it’s possible that will happen in future books. It did feel a bit close to Harry Potter in some aspects, but that’s not uncommon for the magical school sub genre. I did enjoy it and would continue the series. Thanks so much for the gifted copy!
