I like that her family are conjuror and it is not a deep dark secret. Also, everybody in her family or at least most people in her family have magic it seems. In general the story is magic all around world (the world feels full of magic). Is there more of a sense of community than other middle grade fantasies? The conflicts I think are going to be interesting. I think it is a good addition to the middle grade fantasy specifically Black middle grade fantasy space.
