I can tell I, personally, will not enjoy this book. However, I'm not the target audience! I think all the reasons I dislike it is what makes it a strong middle grade story. The magic doesn't feel as thoroughly developed as I would like, instead focusing more on the character's thoughts and experiences with it. This story is likely coming-of-age, something that would definitely be enticing for a younger reader!
