Thank you BookishFirst, author Susan Lieu, and Celadon Books for providing an advance reading copy of this novel. I was very excited to read the book after the First Impression preview, and the book had so much more than I anticipated. This story is relatable for such a wide audience: children of Asian immigrants, refugees and war, Asian American experience, mental health, complicated family dynamics, female experience, and tragedy.

I found the book very relatable as an Asian American female and child of immigrant business owners. It was especially meaningful for me because it took place in the Bay Area, California where I am very familiar with! All of the author's experience working in the family business, the landmarks and references, and the struggles with talking about mental health and family trauma were all hitting home for me. I highlighted so many quotes and sections that impacted me deeply. I want to recommend this book to my friends who will all find sections relatable. Thank you to the author for her courage and hard work to share her story and vulnerabilities.
