I was so compelled by the Thea ende of urgency, time, and honesty in this excerpt. The Manicurist’s Daughter begins in a moment of pain, a moment of not being heard or seen for the reality of her situation, which provides the perfect parallel to the larger theme of an immigrant family experience. The writing style, tone, and fact that I share the author’s hometown makes me excited to read this one!
