𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘔𝘢𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘴 was definitely one of my most anticipated reads after being enamored with 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘪𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘗𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘵. The collegiate setting, multiple potential suspects, and Henry David Thoreau allusions really captured my interest. But what had my heart was the development of the plot using Greek myths and secret societies. This lended a dark academia aesthetic to the plot, with multiple murders and secrets connected to the campus and the mystery behind all the mayhem.
While I generally enjoyed the whodunit aspect, I did find myself putting this novel down quite a few times. It didn’t capture my interest as much as I anticipated (I also went in with huge expectations). Additionally, I didn’t like the twist/ending. I guessed half of it correctly but the other part just didn’t come together for me and left me with more questions and still has me pondering whether I am satisfied or not.
