I thought that an author can't write two books in a row with such a awesome twist, but I ordered The Maidens anyway, because I enjoyed The Silent Patient. I was not disappointed in the book at all. I enjoyed the greek mythology and how it was weaved in the storyline with the death of her husband and the students the college and their relationship with the professor. I've read books of a husband dying and then finding out secrets he kept after his death, but the twists in this book were slow and kept you on your toes. Mariana is convinced that she knows who the killer is of girls on campus that her niece goes to. And she is determined not only to keep her niece safe but to find out the professors hold on the women(maidens) on campus and stop the killings from continuing. But the task is not easy and she becomes to involved so is herself questioned as to what she knows and why. Great read, great author!
